Protocol
It is with immense gratitude to Almighty Allah and a profound sense of honour that I welcome you to this historic occasion of the presentation of a book in honour of one of Nigeria's most accomplished jurists, Hon. Justice Massoud Abdulrahman Oredola, JCA (Rtd.).
The Nigerian Bar Association, Ilorin Branch, has over the years cultivated a noble tradition of recognising and immortalising outstanding legal icons through scholarly publications. In the past, our Branch has had the privilege of honouring illustrious legal luminaries including Hon. Justice Ayo Isa Salami, OFR, PCA (Rtd.), the former President of the Court of Appeal; Chief Wole Olanipekun, CFR, SAN; and Hon. Justice Ahmad Olanrewaju Belgore, JCA, whose contributions to the legal profession remain remarkable.
Today, we add another distinguished name to that revered list. The choice of Hon. Justice Massoud Abdulrahman Oredola, JCA (Rtd.) as the honouree of this publication was neither accidental nor arbitrary. It was informed by his exceptional record of service, his modesty and humility despite his towering achievements, his unwavering fear of Allah in the discharge of his judicial responsibilities, and his immense contributions to the development of both the legal and judicial systems in Nigeria.
As we celebrate this remarkable jurist today, it is important to acknowledge the numerous individuals whose commitment, sacrifice, and generosity made this publication possible. I wish to express the profound appreciation of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ilorin Branch, to Prof. Yusuf Ali, SAN, the 1st Kuliyan Geri of Ilorin whose unwavering support, leadership, and dedication to legal scholarship have contributed immensely to the success of this project. Our sincere gratitude also goes to Alhaji Tajudeen Olaseni Oladoja, SAN, for his invaluable contributions and support.
We equally acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of Hon. Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen, the Grand Kadi of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, and Hon. Justice Oniye of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, for your encouragement, guidance, and contributions toward the successful execution of this noble project.
I also wish to specially commend the members of the Publication Committee for your painstaking editorial work, intellectual commitment, and dedication in producing a publication worthy of the stature of our honouree. Similarly, I salute the members of the Presentation Committee, who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the successful organisation of today's event.
My appreciation extends to the members of my Executive Committee and indeed the entire membership of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ilorin Branch, for your support, cooperation, and commitment throughout this project. This achievement belongs to all of us. I also wish to acknowledge and thank the Faculties of Law of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State University, Malete, and Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, whose collaboration has enriched this publication and strengthened the bridge between legal practice and legal scholarship.
To all authors, contributors, reviewer, sponsors, and well-wishers who have supported this publication in one form or another, we are deeply grateful. We equally thank those who have made financial contributions and those who will still support this laudable endeavour through your donations today.
As we celebrate Hon. Justice Massoud Abdulrahman Oredola, JCA (Rtd.), may we all be inspired by his exemplary life, his commitment to justice, his humility, his scholarship, and his fear of Allah. May his legacy continue to illuminate the path for future generations of lawyers and judges.
On behalf of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ilorin Branch, I warmly welcome you all and wish you a rewarding and memorable event.
Thank you for your attention.
