MY MANIFESTOS
INTRODUCTION
My name is Olayinka Dauda Jimoh. I am contesting for the position of Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ilorin Branch in the forthcoming 2024 NBA election. I was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2012 and have been in private practice since then.
I am not only qualified to contest for the post of Secretary in the branch, I have the zeal and drive to pursue purpose-driven projects for the branch.
I know I can competently function and carry out the duties of the office of Secretary if elected.
I have served in all three organs of Nigerian Bar Association - Young Lawyers' Forum. I served as the Chairman, NBA-YLF, Ilorin Branch between 2017-2019, from where I rose to become Chairman, Arewa Young Lawyers Forum in 2018 - 2023
In the same year 2018, I was appointed member of the Central Organizing Committee, 2018 NBA-YLF Summit in Lagos. I made bold to say that, YLF Ilorin under my leadership did its best to promote the ideas of the forum as envisaged by the NBA Constitution. Some of the achievements recorded by the forum under my watch are as follow:
- Two (2) days YLF-ILORIN Retreat (first of its kind in Ilorin and Northern Bar). Wherein we had the following:
- Symposium
- Football match
- A cocktail party
- A visit to Owu Waterfall in Owu Isin, Kwara State
- A One (1) day Seminar (first of its kind in Ilorin bar) where we had in attendance the following prominent personalities: the former President of NBA, Mr Paul Usoro, SAN; former General Secretary of NBA, Mr Mazi Afam Osigwe SAN; Mallam Sanni Garungabbas, SAN (Former A.G, Jigawa State); Prof Wahab Egbewole SAN (Keynote Speaker); Mr K.K Eleja SAN (Chairman of one of the sessions), and; Mr Wahab Ismail (Chairman one of the season).
Other Speakers were: Prof Ernest Ojukwu SAN; Chief Obi Okafor SAN; Chief Mrs Ronke Adeyemi; Chief (Dr) Taiye Oniyide and many others.
- The first NBA-YLF (ILORIN) Dinner and Awards Night. The dinner was made free of charge for members and other attendees.
- Commencement of YLF-ILORIN monthly lecture on Continuing Legal Education for capacity building of all members.
- Commencement of provision for refreshments in all YLF-Ilorin monthly meetings
- Full sponsorship for some YLF Ilorin members at the Abuja 2018 and Lagos 2019 Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conferences
- Full sponsorship for all members of YLF Ilorin who attended two (2) day National Annual YLF Summit in Lagos. This included: transportation, registration and accommodation.
- Provision of accommodation for some members at the Lagos and Abuja NBA - AGC (the members benefitted from this scheme were different from those given full sponsorship for the AGC)
- Organized a get together dinner for YLF-ILORIN members at the NBA AGC Lagos, 2019
- Provision for YLF Ilorin football jerseys
- Credible election and peaceful transition of leadership
- Projected the good image of NBA-YLF Ilorin within and outside Ilorin Branch through different reports on newspapers and blogs
- Organized the first debate for NBA Chairmanship Candidates
- And lots more
To God be the glory, I am one of the founding fathers of Arewa YLF and nurtured it to where it is today. Recently, the forum organized the biggest summit in the history of the Arewa bar --- the Arewa Young Lawyers' Forum summit. The event took place at the Aguiyi Ironsi Merit House, Abuja and had in attendance members from different branches of the NBA, the giants in the legal profession and top government functionaries including but not limited to NBA President, Mr Y.C Maikyau SAN OFR, Mallam Garba Shehu, Senator Muhammed Nakudu, Chief J-K Gadzama SAN, Ishaka Mudi Dikko SAN, Mazi Afam Osigwe SAN, Chukwuka ikwazom SAN, Chief Emeka Obegholu SAN, Tijjani Alkali Gazali SAN, Prof. (Hon.) Ali Ahmad, Prof Ibrahim Abikan, Jonathan Taidi SAN, Daniel Bwala, Paul Daudu, Barbara Omosun, Ogbom Goodluck Ogbom to mention but a few. It was a three (3) days Summit with a six (6) breakout sessions.
I must commend the efforts of my team for standing by me to record these achievements.
I have also functioned in different leadership capacities in the past. I have served in different committees of the NBA Ilorin Branch. I was a member of 2020 and 2022 NBA dinner Committee. In 2018 and 2021, I was a member of the Local Organizing Committee, NBA-NEC Meeting in Ilorin.
At NBA national level, Presently, I am a member of NBA-National Executive Council Co-opted by president Y.C Maikyau SAN. Similarly, I am a member of future of legal practice committee set up by the NBA president.
By the grace of God, all these positions i previously held had exposed me to the workings of the Association and I have acquired many leadership qualities through those positions.
MY MAIN OBJECTIVE IF ELECTED by the grace of God is to competently stand by and uphold the duties assigned to me by the Constitution of the Nigerian Bar Association 2015 (As Amended in 2021), particularly pursuant to Section 9(5) which are enormous but very surmountable.
In addition to the constitutional mandate as stated above, I also intend adding value to the Nigerian Bar Association by canvassing for, promoting and ensuring the below objectives:
- Total Digitalized Secretariat
- Prompt receipt of stamp and seal
- Expansion and adequate maintenance of the Association's website and Constant updating Members database.
- Facilitation of prompt submission of members application for notary public
- Electronic mail notifications of meetings and minutes of meetings
- Regular Virtual Meetings
- Adequate representation at the NBA NEC Meeting
- Proper record keeping and information management via technological means.
- Continuous maintenance of Bar Center E-Library
- Proper documentation and report of financial information as stipulated in the NBA constitution
- Promoting the interest of Young Lawyers and capacity Building for all members through Webinar
- o organize online training sessions (CLE)
- Update members on daily activities of the courts
- Speedy processing of Letter of Good Standing
In summary, I intend to manage a Secretariat that will be intellectually mobile (DIGITAL), to constructively and passionately attend to the needs of members of the branch and members of the society. I intend to project and enhance the operations of the secretariat to be more diligent and aggressively promoting an administrative aura which will be more digitally responsive to the needs of members of the Association.
I will by the grace of God ensure the actualization of all the objectives I have itemized above to the best of my ability and competence. I will also, if elected, contribute my quota towards the protection of the legal space in my capacity as Secretary by pushing and ensuring the continuity of strategies already in place.
Distinguished seniors and dear colleagues, I need your vote to achieve all these laudable ideas for a progressive and vibrant branch.
Vote me as your Secretary and we shall together make all the above ideas a reality and we shall jointly raise Ilorin bar higher.

Profile Of O.D Jimoh, Esq.
O.D Jimoh Esq is a Legal Practitioner with over 10 years experience. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree in 2010 from the Prestigious University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria and he was called to the Bar on the 24th of November, 2012.
As a student of the Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin, he was elected as the Publicity Secretary, Justice Chambers, University of Ilorin and he was also elected the Treasurer of the faculty of law of the same university.
O. D. Jimoh, Esq. attended the Nigerian Law School, Lagos from 2011-2012 where he represented University of Ilorin in the Students' Representative Council and was subsequently elected as Assistant Secretary of the Students' Representatives Governing Council.
After his call to bar, O. D. Jimoh proceeded to serve in the Sokoto State Ministry of Justice between 2012 and 2013. In 2012, while still serving as a Corp member in Sokoto State, he was elected Secretary of Legal Aid Clinic, NYSC Sokoto chapter. As secretary, O.D Jimoh handled many pro bono cases for the less privileged.
After his mandatory National Youth Service Corps programme in the Ministry Of Justice, Sokoto in 2013, O. D Jimoh joined the law firm of Messrs. M.A Sambo & Co, Maharaban Chambers, Sokoto, Sokoto State where he personally handled many cases up to the court of Appeal, Sokoto including the famous case of Ibrahim Danjarida vs the State.
He left Sokoto in the year 2014 and joined his boss, Babatunde Olomu at Olomu & Co Chambers, GRA, Ilorin, Kwara State. To further pursue his professional career, O. D Jimoh, in partnership with Dr T. A Abdulraheem; A. J Edun, Esq.; H. O Abaya, Esq.; and A. A Ogunleye, Esq., founded Armstrong Attorneys Law Firm in the year 2015 with its registered office at 8, Iloffa Road, GRA, Ilorin, Kwara State. As a founding partner, O. D Jimoh has contributed immensely to the development witnessed by the law firm.
On the 1st of December, 2017, he was elected as the Chairman NBA-Young Lawyers' Forum Ilorin Branch from where he rose to become Chairman, Arewa Young Lawyers Forum. The nascent forum --- Arewa YLF --- was founded by him together with other Chairmen of Young Lawyers' Forum of Arewa Branches.
Also, as the Chairman YLF Ilorin, Jimoh was appointed a member of Central Organizing Committee for the NBA YLF National Summit that took place in Lagos in 2018.
Similarly, O D Jimoh has served in different committees of NBA Ilorin Branch. He was a member of 2020 and the 2022 dinner committees. He was also appointed into 2018 and the 2021 Local Organizing Committee, NBA NEC meeting that took place in Ilorin, Kwara State.
O. D Jimoh is a pace setter and pathfinder. He has a successful stewardship in all the positions he has occupied.
His administration as NBA-YLF Ilorin Chairman recorded unprecedented achievements. These include:
- A two (2) days YLF-ILORIN branch Retreat
- A One (1) day YLF-ILORIN branch Seminar
- The first NBA-YLF ILORIN Dinner and Awards Night.
- Commencement of YLF-ILORIN branch monthly lecture on Continuing Legal Education for capacity building of all members

Similarly, at the level of Arewa YLF, his leadership organized the first ever Arewa Young Lawyers' Forum Summit in Abuja in the year 2022. He also set up a committee that wrote the constitution for the forum.
In recognition of his role in promoting the interest of young lawyers, the NBA president, Mr Y.C Maikyau SAN, OON co opted O.D Jimoh as NEC member in 2022. He is also a member of future of legal practice committee appointed by the NBA President Y.C Maikyau SAN.
On Societal Leadership, he is a community development and welfare enthusiast who served his Ojagboro Community in Ilorin East local Government of Kwara State in different capacities. He was a Legal Adviser to Ojagboro Youth Development Association for two years. Apart from that, he was appointed by the Chairman of the Association to serve as the Chairman, Constitution Review Committee. The committee produced the constitution the Association uses till date.
O. D Jimoh is a legal practitioner per excellence, a jack of all trades in the legal profession whose foray into corporate practice has contributed tremendously to self development and that of his clients --- Individuals and corporate bodies. O. D Jimoh is the Legal Adviser, Executive Secretary and Board member of Kwacofocus Microfinance bank, Ilorin. He is a Legal Adviser to Marigan Space LTD, Ilorin. He is also a Legal Adviser to YALOF BUREAU DE CHANGE with office in Lagos. He recommended mergers and prepared the merger agreements for four (4) financial companies to remain in business. The companies later merged to become 'Yalof Bureau De Change' as a result of the increment in the share capital from Ten Million Naira (10,000,000) to Thirty Five Millions Naira (35,000,000) by Central Bank of Nigeria.
O. D Jimoh is a cosmopolitan bar man who is well recognized within and outside Ilorin for his service to the Bar and beyond the bar. He was appointed as Director of Media and Head of Legal, Leadership Appraisal Forum, (LAF). The forum champions the course of less-privileged and monitor government activities in Nigeria. In recognition of his contributions, LAF in the year 2020 gave O. D Jimoh an Award.
Furthermore, he is one of the recipients of Cristal Media Empire's Merit Award.
Jimoh is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). As a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, he attended all Annual General Conferences of the NBA since 2015 and all NBA sectional conferences (SPIDEL, SLP, SBL, ACJ and NBA-YLF).
O. D. Jimoh is also a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ilorin Branch and he has served the branch in different capacities since he joined the branch in 2014. He served as a Member of the Local Organizing Committee for the NBA-NEC Meeting that held in 2018. He also served as a member of the 2020 Nigerian Bar Association, Ilorin Branch Dinner Committee. Most recently, he served as a Local Organizing Committee member for the just concluded NBA-NEC Meeting that took place in Ilorin between June 7th - June 9th.
He is currently a Postgraduate/LL.M student at the Obafemi Awolowo University Faculty of Law.
O. D Jimoh is happily married and the marriage is blessed with three (3) children: Jimoh, Muhammed and Aishat.
