MANIFESTO OF MUSLEEMAH OLAMIDE SULYMAN ESQ TO THE NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION ILORIN BRANCH FOR THE POST OF TREASURER

Distinguished Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Ilorin Branch, Learned seniors and Colleagues. My name is Musleemah Olamide Sulyman. I am contesting for the post of Treasurer of the Nigerian Bar Association Ilorin branch in the forthcoming 2024 NBA election. Some of you are already aware, howbeit, I wish to formally inform you of my intention to contest as the next Treasurer of this great Bar. I deem it absolutely necessary to inform you in person as I have identified you as a key stakeholder in charting the future of our great Bar. I called to the Nigerian Bar Association in the year 2011, I have been in private legal practice and later joined the Kwara State Ministry of Justice in the year 2016.

I know I can competently carryout the duties of the office of the Treasurer of the branch as enshrined in the 2015 By-law of the branch as amended in (2021).

I have served in different committees of the NBA Ilorin branch:

• I was a member of the NBA dinner committee 2016-2018.
• Secretary of the dinner committee 2020-2022.
• Currently, I am the Welfare secretary of the branch under the leadership of Kamaldeen Gambari.
• Finally, I am a member of physical fitness committee of FIDA, Ilorin branch.

I have also served in different Committees of the Nigerian Bar Association, National level:

• I am a member of Human right committee under the leadership of immediate past President of Nigerian Bar Association, Olumide Akpata Esq.
• Currently, I am a council member of Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum under the leadership of Y. C. Maik’yau SAN.
• I am currently also a facilitator of the Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum Ilorin branch.
• I am presently a member of Nigerian Bar Association Welfare committee.
• Finally,I was a member of Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum conference planning committee 2024, held in Lagos few months ago.

MY OBJECTIVES IF ELECTED

• I pledge to work in conjunction with the other executive officers of the branch to further promote unity and corporate existence.
• I pledge to work in line with and carryout lawful directives of the chairman and the general meeting in all matters relating to but not limited to safe keeping of the branch cheque book and other related promissory notes as well as budgetary financial analysis.
• pledge to uphold the best global practice standard of up to date financial information.
• I pledge to provide the required financial information to support decision making process whenever the chairman and general meeting deem fit.
• I pledge to take care and keep proper record of finance of the branch with a view of overseeing and working towards minimizing financial risk for the Association at the branch level.
• I pledge in the discharge of my lawful duty to encourage going into viable investment to improve the Association finances at the branch level provided it will not conflict or be in variance with the provision of the NBA uniform bylaw 2015 as amended 2021.
• I pledge to manage the inflows and outflows of the branch monies and take proper custody of the branch account in line with the provision of the extant uniform bylaw 2015 as amended 2021 with a view to discourage and prevent effective internal control system. So help me God.

Distinguished learned seniors and colleagues may I at this junction appeal for your vote and support to make me achieve all the above objectives, I believe with your vote and support we can jointly make Ilorin Bar great.
