Dear Learned Silks, Seniors and Esteemed Colleagues,

It is with deep respect and modesty that I present myself for the position of the Financial Secretary of our noble Branch. As legal practitioners, we hold a pivotal responsibility in maintaining justice and advancing the rule of law. Yet, alongside our core duties, as an esteemed association, it is imperative to manage our financial resources astutely. If entrusted with the position of Financial Secretary of the great Ilorin Bar, I commit to instilling transparency, accountability, and effectiveness in the financial management of our esteemed branch.

I also pledge to do my best and fulfil the responsibilities outlined in our uniform bye laws which include:

1. To collect and record all dues, levies and other contributions or any donations or sundry payments made by the members or any other persons or body either corporate or incorporate and issue official receipts promptly thereof;
2. To ensure that all members pay their Branch dues as prescribed by this Byelaw or as resolved at General Meetings and shall pursue recovery of all outstanding dues, debts and pledges owed to the Branch;
3. To prepare quarterly the list of financial members and defaulters and to present such lists to the Branch Executive Committee and circulate same at the General Meetings;
4. To promptly handover all monies collected by him/ her to the Treasurer for deposit into the Branch’s bank accounts and keep periodic records of the Branch account balance.

In conclusion, I am committed to serving as a diligent and responsible steward of our dearly beloved association's finances. With your support and trust, I am confident that together, we can achieve greater financial stability, transparency, and prosperity for Members of our Esteemed Branch.
