NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION ILORIN BRANCH ELECTORAL COMMITTEE 2024

IKEH SUNDAY - VICE CHAIRMAN ASPIRANT

MANIFESTO OF SIR IKEH SUNDAY ESQ, KSJI;

CONTESTING FOR THE POSITION OF THE VICE CHAIRMAN, NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION, ILORIN BRANCH, KWARA STATE

Distinguished SANs’, Senior Colleagues and Gentlemen of the Ilorin Bar. As a committed Bar man, I have decided to serve this noble professional body in the capacity as the branch vice chairman of the Ilorin Bar.

My resolution to serve the Ilorin Bar is borne out of my desire to contribute my quota, experience and ideas to the development of the Ilorin Bar towards ensuring a bigger, better and vibrant Ilorin Bar.

As a legal practitioner who has been in active practice for more than a decade, an astute litigation lawyer, I have observed the need for us to be united as brothers even as we discharge our professional duties within the ambit of the ethics of the profession. Having an effective and vibrant Bar is one of the key instruments that will aid our oneness and brotherhood.

If elected as the vice Chairman of the Ilorin Bar, I shall in collaboration with the other executives and with the directive of the chairman focus on the following:

  1. Ensure that the Ilorin bar is a more united and vibrant bar by ensuring that all legal practitioners, provided you pay your bar practicing fees as at when due shall enjoy all rights and privileges due to members of the bar irrespective of tribe and religion.
  2. Shall ensure that the welfare of all legal practitioners is guaranteed and guided jealously by further enhancing and perfecting all that may be required for the legal enforcement of the new policy on fees chargeable in floating a legal document and fees chargeable on all legal matters. I believe that when a principal Counsel is paid his supposed dues for all legal matters, definitely there ought to be an improvement in the take home pay of the Junior Counsel in Chambers.
  3. I shall be dedicated and committed in the protection of all lawyers against intimidation and harassment from security agencies in the course of discharging the duties as a legal practitioner.
  4. I shall in conjunction with and on the directive of the chairman promote a more cordial relationship between the bar and the judiciary in the area of speedy dispensation of cases and discouraging unnecessary delays of cases before a court of competent jurisdiction.
  5. If voted as the vice chairman, I shall ensure the effective implementation of the Rules of Professional ethics for lawyers in a bid to restore the dwindling confidence reposed on us as lawyers by the members of the general public.
  6. Finally is to consolidate on the good legacies of the past administrations in its entire ramification.

Thanks and God Bless.

Sir Ikeh Sunday Esq, Ksji
